Bello Music Enterprises presents the 1st Annual Southern California Mambo Conference on August 25th & 26th, 2001!!! The primary focus of the Conference is dancing On 2. With that in mind those dancers from novice to advanced will evolve in their dancing to better synchronize and become one with the rhythms in salsa music. Over 25 workshops, each 1½ hours in duration, will cover topics ranging from: Salsa Music, Rhythm, Phrasing & Timing (listening, dancing and feeling the Clave) to Dance Contest Choreography; the roots of salsa, like Son, to Styling; Cha Cha Cha to Casino Rueda; Mambo Fun-damentals to the technique of Precision Spins & Turns and much more! There also will be a panel discussion with a question & answer period on the Evolution of Mambo in the West Coast. Three levels of instruction (beginner, intermediate and advanced) will be presented simultaneously by some of the most seasoned instructors of the salsa/mambo genre.

SPECIAL SALSA SESSIONS

Intensive, single-session training to master
the elements of dancing with rhythm and style!

Whether you’re slightly rhythm-impaired, fully beat-challenged, or brilliantly musical but missing the inside track on the complexities of Afro-Cuban percussion, even if you are a beginner in Salsa, the “Dance Rhythm” workshops will fine-tune your ability to “dance to the music!”
All workshops include training in basic dance steps, techniques and timing - partner not required.

Defining the basics… the key to great dancing. For all levels, this session is designed to teach the fundamentals: steps, technique,rhythm, body movement and styling.

Partner essentials and basic turns. This workshop will decode the mysteries of dance etiquette. Lead and follow with professional technique.

Intermediate/Advanced footwork and turns. Master some high level partnering concepts…"frame and connection."

Patterns in Percussion SUN-Time:
2 - 4 PM		 "Turn the Beat Around"
Understanding Salsa Music, Rhythm, Phrasing and Timing. Learn how to listen, find the right beat in complex, sophisticated rhythms. Learn to recognize, identify and dance to the sounds and rhythms of the unique Afro-Cuban percussion called the rhythm section in Salsa!

Fancy Footwork:
Hitting Between the Breaks		 SUN-Time:
4:00 - 6:00 PM		 "I Got Rhythm"
This workshop will offer you the syncopations, steps, and style to dance confidently "on clave" during the breakaways. Footwork that is traditional in Salsa/Mambo reflecting it’s origins.
